A trip to the Middle Ages

While strolling through Sauve, the visitors will encounter several “witnesses” of its 1000-year long history. The majority of the buildings were built between the 14th and the 18th century, and many are decorated with gothic ornaments. Among the most famous buildings in Sauve is the Bishop's House, which was built in the early Middle Ages and was largely rebuilt during the 15th century.

From the medieval stone bridge, visitors can enjoy the view over the city and the Vidourle River. The most worthwhile places to visit include the Church in Sauve as well as a medieval tower, which preserved its charm, of a time long passed, until the present.

The Mer de Rochers was created by over thousands of years of water borrowing deep furrows in the limestone. In this surreal landscape, the hiker experiences isolated rocks, as well as valleys and canyons that you can discover. Visitors can enlighten themselves on the information board at the start of the four-kilometre-long path about the history of the Mer de Rochers. You can get there from the Place René Isonard across the Place JP. Claris de Florian and the Grande Rue.

The path is marked in yellow and red. However, at one point the path divides and continues following only one colour each until you reach your destination. Having said that, following the yellow route will give you the better vantage point over the Mer de Roche.
